Leone Island boss Jose Chameleone has announced that he will officially retire from music the day President Museveni leaves power.
Jose Chameleone, real name Joseph Mayanja, is an ardent supporter of the ruling government and has been at the forefront of almost all NRM rallies across the country.
Speaking during an interview, the singer vowed to stop going to the studio the day he learns that his president is no longer in charge of the country.
“I want to put it on record that the day President Museveni ceases to be the president of Uganda, that is when I will also stop going to the studio because I am from his regime. I will stay with my old music, and that is where I will stop,” he said.
Jose Chameleone confessed that he believes he has served his time and has been doing music long enough. Having lived and achieved all he has under the current regime, he was determined to stop making new music and stick with his old catalogue if it ever came to that.

He further revealed that he would still be performing it for his fans like before, but they won’t be getting any new material from him.
“I’m telling you the truth. That is where I will stop, and not because of anything, but I think I have served my era long enough. The day he will cease leading this country, whether he has resigned or by natural calamities, but whatever it is, that will be my end. Not in bad faith, but I will say goodbye to the studio and keep listening to the old music. I will keep performing these old songs and also start aging in peace,” he said.
