Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki, an aspiring National Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda in the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has emphasized the importance of empowering party structures from grassroots to national levels.
Speaking at a press conference held at his offices in Nakawa, Asiimwe, who hails from the Bunyoro subregion, outlined his vision to address challenges facing Western Uganda and the nation at large.
“As we launch this manifesto, which prioritizes job creation, talent development, policy inclusion, and human capacity building, I urge my supporters and all Ugandans to read it and understand how we can transform our country,” said Asiimwe, an entrepreneurial politician and respected energy sector expert.
Asiimwe, a certified professional in Mining and Petroleum Engineering, dismissed critics who questioned his decision not to run for a parliamentary seat,
“I am better positioned to serve at a higher level within the ruling party,” Asiimwe said.
His manifesto focuses on leveraging his expertise as a geologist and structural engineer to drive transformative change in Western Uganda and beyond.
Key promises include:
Attracting Investment and Resource Governance, formalizing Artisanal Mining, Agricultural Commercialization,: Strengthening agricultural value chains and commercialization to boost economic growth, regional trade and infrastructure, promoting regional trade integration and infrastructural expansion to enhance Uganda’s market reach.
Asiimwe, who holds an Executive Master’s in Oil & Gas Governance and Management and is pursuing a PhD in Oil and Gas Stakeholder Engagement, highlighted his academic and professional achievements as a foundation for his leadership.
The launch event saw endorsements from prominent NRM figures, including Lokwii Paul, aspiring National Vice Workers League Chairperson for Karamoja; John Magaro, an NRM delegate from Rakai; Jesca Mwijuka, Workers Councillor for Mbarara City; and Brian Tunura, NRM General Secretary for Masindi in the Bunyoro subregion.
