Inheritance Dispute Eyed in Killing of Entebbe Couple Recently Back from Germany

Date:

New information suggests that the shocking murder of an elderly couple in Entebbe may be rooted in a deeper family conflict over inherited property.

The victims, David Mutaaga (69) and his wife Deborah Florence Mutaaga (62), were found murdered at their residence in Lugonjo-Nakiwogo, Entebbe Municipality, on the morning of July 6, shortly after returning to Uganda from Europe where they had lived for several years.

Initial police findings indicate the couple was attacked in their home by unknown assailants. Their bodies were discovered after the family’s shamba boy, Ronald Golooba, alerted authorities to what he suspected was a violent robbery. Officers arriving at the scene found both victims with stab wounds below the left breast, and the female victim partially undressed. Security footage showed the attackers scaled the perimeter fence and forced their way into the master bedroom, damaging the roof and breaking a window before fleeing through the main gate.

As investigations continue, detectives now suspect that the double homicide may be linked to unresolved disputes within the family over inherited land and property. Sources close to the inquiry reveal that Mr. Mutaaga had received ancestral property that reportedly caused resentment among relatives. Tensions have reportedly intensified over control of the property and funeral arrangements, especially as the couple’s children are still abroad.

Although no arrests have been made, police say inquiries are ongoing, and the case is now being treated as a possible family-driven crime tied to longstanding internal conflicts.
