IGAD Executive Secretary Arrives in Uganda for AUSSOM Summit

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, has officially arrived in Entebbe to participate in the Extraordinary Summit of the Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) to the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).




The summit brings together key regional leaders and stakeholders to reaffirm their support for Somalia’s peace and stability. It reflects a shared regional commitment to the long-standing mission of restoring peace in the Horn of Africa.

Peacekeepers from across Africa especially those from Somalia’s neighboring countries have made tremendous sacrifices to uphold security in the region. Their courage and resilience serve as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility.




“Their sacrifice fuels our collective commitment to achieving a peaceful Somalia an essential pillar for a safer world,” said Dr. Workneh.

The Extraordinary Summit underscores the importance of continued collaboration and solidarity in ensuring that Somalia remains on a stable path to peace, recovery, and development.
