Singer Geosteady has opened up on how he switched his career and focus from becoming a doctor to a full-blown musician.
Geosteady was a science teacher, and people like Sqoop Larma were once in his class. Being a fully established artist, however, he rarely talks about that part of his life in the media.
During a TV interview, the singer revealed that at Masaka Secondary School, he majored in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics (PCB/M), the core subjects that provide a strong foundation for a medical career.
His dream was to become a medical doctor, and he worked hard to achieve it. Upon completion, he was awarded a government scholarship at Busitema University, a public university in Tororo. Because of the distance, he opted for Makerere University.
“I wanted to become a doctor, and things turned out; I was given government sponsorship in Busitema University, but I had never had any prominent figure who came from that University. Personally, I wanted to go to Makerere University, but I couldn’t get in, and at home, there was no way to afford private tuition. I had to look for money myself,” he said.
With this, Geosteady opted for a teaching job during his vacation to raise money toward his dream. He taught mathematics and Chemistry to S.3 and S.4 students at Entebbe Girls. He was a full-time teacher who also helped out fellow teachers with other science subjects.

“I’ve been a very bright student ever since baby Class. This happened during my vacation, and I was looking for ways to make money. I knew I was good at science. When you ask my daughters, they will tell you that daddy knows everything, and I can easily answer every question,” he said.
He revealed that he had kept several study materials he had been using, waiting to use them to teach his children before discarding them.
