Gov’t Sets Deadline For Students Loan Applications for 2025/26

The Ministry of Education and Sports has called for students’ loan applications for the academic year 2025/2026.

 

In an advert issued today, Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the Ministry says all eligible students are encouraged to apply for Higher Education Students’ Loans not later than 31st July 2025 with the process starting today, Wednesday, 25th June, 2025.

 

Eligible students are those pursuing science based courses, vocational courses at Institute of Survey and Land Management, National Meteorological College, Nakawa Vocational Training College, Uganda Institute of Communication and Information Technology, Uganda Petroleum Institute- Kigumba, Uganda Technical College-Bushenyi, Uganda Technical College-Elgon, Uganda Technical College-Kichwamba, Uganda Technical College-Kyema, Uganda Technical College-Lira, Bukalasa Agricultural College, Uganda Wildlife Research and Training Institute-Kasese, Fisheries Training Institute, Nyabyeya Forestry College and Uganda Hotel and Tourism Institute.

 

Others are government nursing and midwifery schools, Schools of Comprehensive Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing School-Butabika, Public Health Nurses College, Colleges of Health Sciences, Mulago Paramedical School, Health Tutors College-Mulago, Butabika School of Psychiatry Clinical Medicine, Jinja School of Ophthalmic clinical medicine, Mbale School of Hygiene and Jinja School of Medical Laboratory Training.

 

Meanwhile the approved participating Universities are; Makerere University, Mbarara University, Soroti University, Gulu University, Kabale University, Kyambogo University, Lira University, Mountains of the Moon University, Muni University, MUBS, Uganda Christian University.

 

Others are; African Bibile University, Africa Renewal University, Bishop Stuart University, Bugema University, International University of East Africa, ISBAT University, Islamic University in Uganda, KIU, Kampala University, Mutesa 1 Royal University, Ndejje University, Nkumba University, UCU, Ndejje, Uganda Martyrs, University of Kisubi and Victoria University.

 

The maximum loan limit per annum is however capped at Shs7,600,000. “Any academic programme costed above this limit shall not be funded by the Ministry of Education,” reads the advert.
