The Chief Coordinator of Operations Wealth Creation, Gen. Salim Saleh, commonly known as Gen Saleh, has expressed his dissatisfaction about musicians flocking to his home to beg for money.
It has become a norm for musicians to travel to Gulu, and even when they travel for their privately booked shows, they end up requesting to meet the General for handouts, something that he says interferes with his work.
Gen. Saleh, during one of the events, openly revealed to musicians that he was fed up with them always running to him. He revealed that they always keep him busy with meetings, leaving him no time for his personal work or to meet others.
“Musicians, I’m tired of you. For this, I have to say it on camera. You have taken a lot of my time; I haven’t even had time to meet the NRM people, can you imagine? While they are going, I’m meeting Buchaman; later, I’m meeting Raga Dee; and in the evening, I’m meeting another one. So, when will I work on others? You are wasting my time. I told you I have finished with you because I have tried to do as much as possible. If you want to quarrel because I know you are going to abuse me on TikTok, but at least protect what you have,” Gen. Salim Saleh said.
This is not the first time Gen. Saleh has complained about this issue. In 2024, he petitioned the appointed Presidential Advisor on creatives, Eddy Kenzo, together with Ugandan Musicians Association president Cindy Sanyu, to halt musicians from traveling to Gulu.
In an open letter, Gen. Salim Saleh expressed his concerns about the many artists flocking to Gulu, where he resides, noting that they are interfering with his work and programs in Northern Uganda.
