Kadongo Kamu legend Fred Sebatta has spoken out on Sheebah Karungi’s remake of one of his classics, Sam Wange, featuring Daddy Andre.
Speaking to journalists, the celebrated singer said he has no issues with Sheebah redoing his song. He explained that during that time, he was in and out of the hospital, and his health was fragile as he was battling high blood pressure and diabetes at the same time. As artists, many came together to find ways to help him get back on his feet.
It was at this point that Sheebah approached him to redo his song. Despite not disclosing whether he was paid or not, Sebatta expressed his gratitude to Sheebah for the help rendered to him, including taking him to the UNMF, where he was celebrated.
He may not be fully healed, but he revealed that the doctors were working tirelessly to see him regain his strength.
“Those days, I was very sick, and those artists who redid my songs during the period, I do not blame them because everyone was looking for a way to get me back up. I cannot say whether I benefited, but they helped me so much those days. They are even responsible for bringing me up here at the Federation,” he said.

Speaking to artists who wished to redo his songs, Sebatta advised them to contact him to discuss the terms and conditions, as he had many other factors to consider before handing over his legacy to anyone else.
“You have to agree with the owner of the song before you redo their song. At this point, anyone who wants my song has to reach out to me, and we agree on terms because many things happen before I give you the song,” he said.
