Four To Represent Northern Region At Miss Tourism Uganda Big Stage

Date:

25-year-old Vanessa Aber Carmichael from Kitgum District was over the weekend crowned Miss Tourism Northern Region 2025/26 during a colorful ceremony held at Lira Hotel in Lira City.

Vanessa, a Network Operations Center Engineer at Roke Telkom Limited, outshone fellow contestants to clinch the prestigious title. She succeeds Atino Lucky Bianca, the outgoing Miss Tourism Northern Uganda 2023/24.

Speaking after her win, Vanessa expressed her commitment to promoting tourism in Northern Uganda by highlighting its rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and the region’s signature warmth and hospitality. She emphasized the importance of preservation and revealed plans to document and share Northern Uganda’s tourism sites through digital platforms and social media.

This year’s pageant was held under the theme “I Am My Culture”, a rallying call that inspired contestants to embrace and celebrate their diverse customs, languages, traditional attire, and cultural values — elements that define the uniqueness of the region.

The event also saw Angwec Rita from Lira City named first runner-up, while Akere Margret Gabriella, a law graduate awaiting graduation and entry into the Law Development Centre (LDC), was crowned second runner-up. The third runner-up position was taken by Aber Vanessa Carmichael, a CSNOC Engineer from Palabek, Lamwo District.

The top four finalists will represent Northern Uganda in the grand finale of Miss Tourism Uganda, scheduled for September 5, 2025, at the prestigious Kampala Serena Hotel. The national winner will go on to showcase Uganda’s tourism potential on the global stage.
