Singer Daxx Kartel, real name Sulaiman Ssebunya, has opened up about growing up without a father in his life.
Daxx Kartel revealed in a TV interview that his father left his mother at a young age and was raised by his grandmother. Unlike other children who have family photos of themselves with their parents, he never had the chance to sit with them in the same room.
The only time I had them both together in the same room was when my father was lying dead in the sitting room. I do not wish it on anyone. It takes a strong person to go through that.
Before he died, Daxx revealed he had never had a conversation with his father, who he said was always afraid to reach out after abandoning him. His cousin, however, was brave enough to approach him, and with his help, Daxx reconnected with his paternal family.
I was very positive after they reached out because I know the walks of life. My dad was scared to approach me, but I calmed him down. He told me he used to see me around.

To show appreciation to his cousin for bringing back his family’s joy, Daxx says he named his son Momo19 after him.
