Finance Trust Bank receives global data security certification

Finance Trust Bank achieves the global ISO 27001:2022 certification, confirming adherence to international standards for protecting customer data and operational security.

Kampala, Uganda — Finance Trust Bank has been granted the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, an internationally recognised standard for Information Security Management Systems. The achievement confirms that the bank is operating under stringent global protocols to protect sensitive customer data.

The certification, awarded on October 24, 2025, by Interdigicert Kenya, follows a comprehensive independent audit of the bank’s security framework. The scope is wide-ranging, covering all systems, services, and personnel, including Data Centre Operations and digital platforms that handle critical customer information.

The bank stated that achieving the ISO standard was a strategic decision to strengthen regulatory compliance and reinforce its security environment, a move seen as essential amid increasing cyber risks in the financial sector.

Annet Nakawunde Mulindwa, managing director and chief executive officer of Finance Trust Bank, emphasised the direct benefit to the bank’s clientele.

“The ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification is a testament to our unwavering commitment to our customers and stakeholders that their data is protected by best-in-class security controls,” Mulindwa said. “This milestone reflects our vision to be a trusted, customer-centric digital bank.”

The ISO standard provides a systematic approach for managing information security risks, offering customers stronger data protection and improved service continuity. The bank views the certification as a factor that elevates its reputation and ensures sustainable growth in a competitive market.

To maintain the global standard, the bank has trained ISMS Champions across all departments to enforce security awareness. Furthermore, the certification requires the bank to undergo annual surveillance audits for continuous monitoring and adherence to the international security framework.
