Faridah Nakazibwe Shares How the Emotional Drain Forced Her to Resign From NTV Mwasuze Mutya

Date:

Media personality Faridah Nakazibwe has revealed that she quit the NTV Mwasuze Mutya morning show because she was overwhelmed by people’s sad stories.

Two years ago, Faridah announced that she would make her last appearance at Nation Media after dedicating 17 years of her career to both NTV and Spark TV.

While many assumed she had taken a break due to her pregnancy, during a YouTube interview with Ruth Kalibbala, Nakazibwe explained the reason for her departure.

Nakazibwe confessed that she was overwhelmed by the sad stories from the numerous guests she hosted and interacted with every morning, noting that she found it hard to carry that load with her own personal issues.

I tried to be strong, but one day it was a lot. It is either that I did it for so long or that I covered so many things, including the personal issues that happened to me. The last two years on TV were my breaking point. I didn’t tell anyone, but my body and my mind were giving up. Many mornings, I wished they wouldn’t show up.

One particular story that she says broke her heart was that of one of the survivors of the infamous Kira Road accident that happened in 2019. The incident involved an old truck ferrying construction material that failed to brake, ramming into vehicles at the traffic lights and injuring several people.

One of the female survivors, during her visit to Mwasuze Mutya, shared that she had left her home that afternoon to meet her friends in their prayer group to share testimonies of how God had answered their prayers. She unfortunately crashed in the accident and had both of her legs amputated.

Nakazibwe revealed she couldn’t handle her emotions and broke down on set. The viewers wouldn’t notice because she told her producer to cut as her photos continued to run on screen.

That is when my producer knew what I was going through, and I told him I was tired. She came at a time when I was vulnerable and narrated the story. I put myself in her shoes when she talked about her amputation and her children seeing her for the first time. But I pictured my daughters in that same situation and imagined how they would feel.
