Musician Fantom Lovins, born Adam Kiggundu of the famous ‘Ompalula’ hit song, has opened up about the toxic and drug-filled life he lived in Dubai with his girlfriend.
Fantom Lovins ran to Dubai a few years ago after he was accused of stealing a phone. There, he met a woman named Rinah, whom he fell madly in love with, and together they lived a good life on the money she earned.
Initially, he didn’t know how she earned the money, but later found out that Rinah was sleeping with men for money. Fantom confesses that on several occasions, he escorted her to her duty post on the streets and watched her take in and out of different men.
He believes his love for her blinded him to the point that he didn’t care who she was with, because he would still welcome her back home at the end of the day. Many times, they had discussed her quitting her way of life; she kept promising to change, but she failed.
I knew what she was and what she was doing. But I wanted it that way. I was in love and thought I would change her, and she promised she would change. Used to escort her out and leave her at a certain point, but the time came when I could go up to the streets. I would chill on the streets with my boys and watch her move in and out of different men’s lives. We would go and shop after that and go back home. No mind in the rightful minds can settle for that. A Makerere graduate, I don’t think my father (RIP) was happy.
Their relationship blossomed until 2024, when they started experiencing challenges. Fantom says Rinah disappeared from their shared home for a week, only to return with a behavior change. He later learned that she had met up with Nigerians who had introduced her to hard drugs.

She allegedly became an addict, and because Fanton was with her, he claims people started accusing him of teaching her drugs. Three months down the road, the situation became worse, and she unfortunately lost her mind. Because of her mental state, they were evicted from their once luxurious bed space and moved into a cheap lodging, where she would still escape and do drugs.
The veteran singer confesses that the relationship became so toxic that they would brutally fight, nearly killing each other. Even in this situation, he claimed he couldn’t leave her alone and tried every possible means to ensure she got better, but in vain. He was, however, deported from Dubai when he fought the security guard who was giving Rinah a pass to go and abuse drugs with Nigerians.
We loved each other so much. I didn’t have a bad life in Dubai apart from that. We had planned to leave that place because I was willing to change her, but a lot happened. I failed and almost died trying. I didn’t go to Dubai with scars, but look at me now. She also has scars on me. We were living a very dirty, brutal, and toxic life. I was in denial. No man allows his woman to go and sell herself and then welcome her back. I don’t know what had come over me. People had given up on us,” he narrated to Gossip Live.
