Students have been advised to pray, adore, and respect the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, and emulate her attitudes if they are to be successful in life.

Rev. Fr. Barithzar Ndyomugabe, Kabale Diocesan Spiritual Director, made the call yesterday while presiding over the dedication of Mother Mary’s Shrine at St. Jerome Secondary School Ndama in Kebisoni town council, Rukungiri district.

Addressing the congregation during the mass held at school grounds, Rev. Fr. Ndyomugabe said that Mary showed love to people unconditionally, is the role model and links people to God and Son asking students to always pray, love and respect her since she is now within school.

Fr. Ndyomugabe went on to say that some people accuse the Catholic faith of worshiping statues, claiming that they revere the Lord God, which is the first commandment.

He added that as Catholics, they cherish those pictures, particularly because they remind them of their beliefs and enhance their faith.

Byamukama Alfonse, the head teacher St. Jerome SS Ndama, stated that the coming of Virgin Mother Mary in their school compound is a blessing, encouraging students to run and be close to her so that they can achieve what they want.

Speaking on behalf of the children, Atukwatse Shallon, the school’s head girl, expressed gratitude for the dedication of Mother Mary’s Shrine, which will allow them to receive blessings from her.

During the event, Rev. Fr. Ndyomugabe also commissioned the newly constructed school administrative block, which cost over 300 million shillings, and unveiled St. Jerome monument.
