Emmanuel Lwasa Converts to Islam, Officially Named Akram

Renowned Masaka-based businessman Emmanuel Lwasa has today converted to Islam, ditching his Christian religion.

Since the start of the year, Emmanuel Lwas has been contemplating turning to Islam, citing that a Muslim lover influenced his decision.

Today, Friday 08 August 2025, the controversial businessman made his way to Kibuli Mosque in Kampala, before formally embracing the Islamic faith.

While addressing members of the process moments after the transition, Lwasa made it known that his new girlfriend inspired him to join Islam.

From now on, Lwasa will be addressed as Akram, after dropping his Christian name Emmanuel. He vowed to adhere to the Muslim doctrines and inspire more to join the religion.
