Echodu Pledges to Bridge Gap Between CEC, Lower Party Structures

Date:

EASTERN UGANDA – David Calvin Echodu, an aspirant for the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, has vowed to improve communication between CEC leadership and grassroots party structures in Teso Sub-region.

Delegates from Kumi, Ngora, Bukedea, Kaberamaido, and Kalaki Districts raised concerns over poor representation, noting that the current CEC Chairperson has failed to address regional issues. John Michael Okello, NRM Chairperson for Ngora District, lamented that he has never met the party’s National Chairman since 2016, citing political brokers as a major hindrance.

Richard Ochom, Kumi Municipality Mayor, highlighted the neglect of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, while Joseph Amailem, LCIII Chairperson of Malera Sub-county, decried the absence of CEC representation in Bukedea. Maria Gorrety Ajilo, NRM Chairperson for Kalaki District, added that constituents only see leaders during campaigns.

Echodu criticized leaders who only appear during presidential visits, pledging to reshape party structures for better service delivery. “Patients sleep on the floor at Soroti Hospital—we need leaders who will advocate for change,” he stated.
