Date:

Sheikh Imran Abdunoor Ssali, the UMSC Secretary for Affairs, represented His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafidh Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the 2nd Deputy Mufti, at the official commissioning of the newly built Habibu Islamic Learning Centre in Ndiba Village, Ndese, Mukono District. The school was founded by Hon. Sheikh Saadi Habibu Kawesa, the Kayunga Muslim District UMSC General Assembly representative. The event was held on Sunday, January 12th, 2025.

The entire school infrastructure, including classroom blocks, administration offices, dormitories, a mosque, staff quarters, and a fixed borehole for safe water provision, was funded by the Nile Humanitarian Charity in Iganga.

In his remarks, Sheikh Ssali, on behalf of His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafidh Muhammad Harunah Bukenya (who was meant to represent His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, but was unable to attend), expressed profound gratitude to the donors. He described their generosity as being in line with divine Islamic teachings based on the Holy Qur’an and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He also urged other Muslim organizations and individuals to emulate this example.

Additionally, Sheikh Ssali encouraged the local community to embrace the school project, as it is an important component of development. He particularly urged Muslim parents to do everything possible to educate their children. He also advised them to keep politics—both governmental and within the Muslim community—separate from matters of education.

On his part, Sheikh Saadi Habibu Kawesa pledged that, although the school is Muslim-founded, it will provide quality education to all children, including those from families of other faiths.
Other attendees included Sheikh Abbas Ssenkuba, the Mukono District Kadhi, prominent Sheikhs, and local leaders, among others.
