Musician Dax Vibez, real name Ivan Bugembe Sentamu, has sparked controversy after confessing that he steals every song he releases.
The local industry has recently been hit with cases of musicians outing similar songs while accusing each other of song theft. While addressing the matter in his recent interview, the ‘Taabu’ hitmaker acknowledged stealing from fellow artists.
In his case, however, he listens to various songs, draws inspiration, and turns the ideas into something original.
Unlike other artists who copy others’ work word-for-word without changing anything, Dax only picks concepts and creates something new out of them.
I steal every song that you hear coming from me. Steal people’s ideas and put my own touch on them because the music we do has never been done before. I listen to different artists, pick something, and put my art on it. Then my fans praise me for being creative, but I like a leaf from the artist.
