As the Ekitudha show was ongoing, popular artist Dax Vibez was detained over an alleged assault incident in Jinja City.
Ekitudha is a major annual concert organized by Baba Media Group, and the 2025 edition took place on July 6 at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, Jinja City. The event attracts top musicians from across the country, along with local artists and comedians from the Busoga sub-region.
According to reports, after performances by Mikie Wine and Dax Vibez, the two artists proceeded to Kampala. However, upon reaching Shell Ambercourt in Jinja City, they stopped at the petrol station, where an altercation occurred.
At the station, a serious misunderstanding reportedly arose between Mikie Wine’s team and a local resident, Ibra Hussein. In an attempt to resolve the dispute amicably, both parties proceeded to Jinja Central Police Station (CPS).
According to SP James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police spokesperson, officers at CPS made efforts to mediate between the conflicting parties. Subsequently, Ibra Hussein filed a case of assault against Mikie Wine, while Mikie Wine filed a case of malicious damage against Hussein. Both parties were later released on police bond.
However, while still at CPS Jinja Central, Dax Vibez allegedly assaulted Ibra Hussein, leading to a fresh charge of assault being filed against the artist.
SP Mubi stated that investigations, under the guidance of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), are ongoing to establish the full facts surrounding the incidents. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from both the police station and Shell Ambercourt to obtain possible incriminating evidence.
Mubi also urged artists and the general public to treat one another with dignity and respect to promote peaceful coexistence.
