Fast-rising ghetto singer D-Star, best known as Hoozambe, has expressed disappointment towards artists he said took advantage of his fame and money.
D-Star came to stardom in 2024, thanks to his song “Hoozambe” (Shifra). At his peak, he says he received numerous offers to collaborate from artists. To his surprise, however, they didn’t promote the songs, leading him to believe they wanted him to fail.
Hoozambe, speaking during a TV interview, called out Gloria Bugie and Kapeke, emphasizing that instead of working together, they were tapping into his fame. He promised to keep exposing other artists whom he felt had used him and hated his skyrocketing success behind closed doors.
“Artists went as far as sabotaging my bookings. They pretend to be our brothers but end up using us. For people like Kapeke, I made a song with him, and he didn’t push it. Gloria Bugie, I gave her a collaboration when I still had my fame, but they refused to promote our songs because they wanted me to fail. I’m tired of artists, and this year, I will be different,” he said.
Hoozambe denied being a one-hit wonder, saying he concentrated more on releasing quality music over quantity. He noted that he was no longer interested in making music for the local market but was targeting cross-border countries.

“I’m not a one-hit wonder because my song has over 15 million views in one year. Visit the likes of Kapeke, count all their songs, and compare them with my song. It means they are wasting their time because I would want my songs to cross borders, not like him, who releases a song, and it stops in Makindye, then he goes ahead to brag,” he said.
