Cybersecurity leaders to gather at East Africa InfoSec conference – UG Standard

Date:

KAMPALA, Uganda — The ISACA Kampala Chapter announced Tuesday that it will host the 14th Annual East Africa Information Security Conference, bringing together cybersecurity professionals and technology leaders from across the region.

The conference is scheduled from Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The event, themed “Thriving in the Era of Disruptive Technology,” will feature masterclasses, hands-on training workshops, keynote addresses, and panel discussions on subjects including artificial intelligence, cloud security, and cybersecurity.

The press launch, held at the Fairway Hotel, was presided over by Christine Nalubowa, who represented the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), and Dr. Irene Nakiyimba from the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT).

ISACA Kampala Chapter President Maurice Taremwa said the conference aims to address the critical need for digital trust in an increasingly connected world.

“Most of our lives are on the internet,” Taremwa said. “So being cyber secure is very important. We want to ensure that our national transaction and technology assets are very secure.”

Taremwa added that attendees will learn how to “thrive” amid technological disruption, noting that new technologies have already transformed industries like manufacturing, media, finance, and health.

Tickets for the conference range from 900,000 Ugandan shillings for a two-day training pass for members to 2,300,000 shillings for a five-day premium pass for non-members, which includes access to both the masterclass and the main conference.

The conference is supported by several partners, including the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Liquid Telecom, and NITA-U.
