Col. Nakalema Urges Government Agencies to Boost Collaboration for Socioeconomic Transformation

Col. Edith Nakalema, head of SHIPU, urges leaders of government agencies to collaborate more effectively and improve communication to highlight government achievements and drive socioeconomic transformation in Uganda.

KAMPALA, Uganda — Col. Edith Nakalema, head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), urged leaders of government agencies to strengthen their collaborative efforts to promote socioeconomic transformation in Uganda.

During a follow-up meeting held at the SHIPU offices in Kampala, Nakalema called on the executives to use their positions to enhance inter-agency cooperation for more effective service delivery.

“The continuation of this conversation remains focused on how our collaborative efforts as public sector executives deliver value to all citizens that sustains transformation of households,” Nakalema said.

The meeting was attended by the heads of several key agencies, including the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Uganda Development Corporation (UDC), and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).

Nakalema emphasized that a major challenge is the lack of public awareness regarding the government’s achievements, which she attributed to poor communication.

“A lot of achievements have been registered by the government for the people of Uganda, but communication has not been very effective to highlight these gains,” she stated.

Nakalema encouraged the leaders to use various media platforms, including radio, social media, and television, to publicize their accomplishments and plans.

The agency leaders agreed to use all available avenues to communicate their institutions’ accountability and future plans. They also committed to engaging Ugandans, particularly the youth, in activities aimed at accelerating the country’s socioeconomic development.
