Celebrating 50 Years, Afrigo Band gears up for historic concert in Kampala

The golden anniversary concert is scheduled to take place on August 16, 2025, at Millennium Grounds, Kampala, and is expected to be the cultural highlight of the year.

This third Legends of Sound edition celebrates legendary African music icons, with this year’s focus on Uganda’s cherished and longest-standing band, Afrigo.

Afrigo Band, active since the 1970s, represents Uganda’s musical heartbeat, fusing culture, resilience, and performance through five decades of unforgettable sound.

The concert features Afrigo legends such as Moses Matovu, Rachel Magoola, and others, reimagining classics in an energetic, festival-style format.

Legendary Congolese singer Koffi Olomidé will headline, bringing his electrifying Ndombolo sound to Kampala for an unforgettable night of African music.

Talent Africa CEO Aly Allibhai lauded the partnership with Stanbic, celebrating Afrigo’s ability to blend Ugandan tradition with global musical appeal.

Allibhai also welcomed guest performer Koffi Olomidé, whose energy and cross-continental music promise to elevate the anniversary experience further.
