The Chief of Defence Forces and Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has eulogised the late Maj Gen (Rtd) Christopher Kazoora as a committed patriot and professional soldier who served Uganda with honour and distinction.

Gen Kainerugaba’s tribute was delivered by Lt Gen Sam Kavuma, Force Commander of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), during the burial of Maj Gen Kazoora at his ancestral home in Luwama Village, Kinyogoga Parish, Nakaseke District.

Maj Gen Kazoora passed away on January 9, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital.

“General Kazoora fought for this nation and protected it throughout his years of service. We thank him for his bravery, dedication, and selfless service to Uganda,” the message read.

The late officer began his military journey on May 26, 1979, enlisting with FRONASA before later joining the National Resistance Army. Over his distinguished career, he held various command and administrative roles, contributing significantly to the growth and professionalism of the UPDF.

During the burial service, Mrs Catherine Nyambuhoro Kazoora, his widow, paid an emotional tribute, describing her husband as a loving and devoted partner throughout their 38 years of marriage.

“He loved me, cared for me, and looked after me wholeheartedly. I am in great pain and do not know how I will live without him,” she said.

She also expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the support extended to her husband during his illness and thanked the UPDF fraternity for standing with the family in their time of grief.

The burial service brought together senior UPDF generals and officers, political leaders, clergy, family members, and friends
