Caroline Marcah reveals why she quit Spark TV, raises alarm on exploitation, witchcraft in media

Date:

Media personality Caroline Marcah Mirembe has spoken out about the longstanding rumor that she quit Spark TV due to non-payment.

Caroline Marcah appeared in a sit-down interview with YouTuber Shalom and confirmed Kasuku’s recent claims that he was never paid at Nation Media.

She explained that she pioneered several shows for Spark TV but was never paid a single cent. She wrote the script, searched for the location, shot the content, and flagged it off with her previous producer, Kugonza, but in the end, she got dropped.

“After like three months, after the show has gained popularity and got sponsors, they start fixing their own people. You end up working only once a week on a show you created. Even up to now, some of them are still running,” she said.

Caroline Marcah joined Spark TV on Livewire and later Chezad.com after Mr. Mosh quit to focus on his political career. She later joined Bukedde TV, and during her journey at the station, she faced witchcraft and resistance from the older presenters who were against improvement.

Most of her adult life, Caroline Marcah has worked in the media, and throughout her journey, she says she has faced sexual harassment, witchcraft, and co-workers who do not wish others well. She says the harassment in media houses usually comes from top bosses who have an influence on their careers and could easily lead to their termination.

“There is a lot of unprofessionalism, disorganization, and if you are not steadfast, you might not make it. They might end up giving you an unqualified producer who would easily make you blunder on air. When the system is broken from the top, accountability at the lower level doesn’t help,” she said.

Even when she was exploited at Spark TV, Caroline Marcah gave props to Nation Media for always nurturing talent.
