BrighterMonday Uganda has taken another bold step in advancing workplace diversity and inclusion by successfully hosting the 2025 edition of its signature HR Fusion event in Jinja. Held under the theme “Creating Inclusion: Fostering Belonging for Every Talent to Thrive at Work,” the gathering brought together HR professionals, business leaders, and organizational managers from various sectors including health, ICT, hospitality, NGOs, and manufacturing.
The event served as a powerful reminder of how a culture of belonging enhances employee engagement, boosts productivity, and strengthens staff retention — factors increasingly recognised as critical to organizational success in Uganda.
Pamela Kabahesi, Country Programme Lead at BrighterMonday Uganda, emphasized the platform’s role in equipping employers with practical tools to create high-performance workplaces where all individuals feel respected and empowered, regardless of their gender or background.
“Our aim was to provide employers, especially in dynamic sectors like manufacturing and hospitality, with the resources they need to embed inclusive practices into their workplace culture,” Kabahesi noted. “This not only supports employee well-being but also fuels innovation and national economic growth.”
The forum tackled key areas such as daily inclusion habits, inclusive leadership, effective measurement of inclusion efforts, and tools for addressing unconscious bias. Participants also engaged in sessions on inclusive communication and ways to build psychologically safe teams where diverse viewpoints are welcomed.
This year’s HR Fusion was tailored to the unique needs of Uganda’s private sector, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) employing between 20 and 50 people. It also welcomed leaders from tourism, ICT, and the health sector, offering them a platform to share best practices and build inclusive strategies.
Aligned with BrighterMonday’s strategic partnership with the Mastercard Foundation through the Young Africa Works initiative, the event reinforced the organization’s mission to improve employment outcomes for youth across Uganda.
“By supporting employers to embed inclusive values into their structures, we’re not only helping young people access jobs—they’re being set up to succeed and advance within those workplaces,” a BrighterMonday representative added.
Beyond the learning sessions, HR Fusion also acted as a pipeline-building platform, strengthening connections between employers and job seekers, and boosting workforce development.
As the conversation around inclusive workplaces gains traction, BrighterMonday Uganda reiterated its commitment to leading the charge. The organization envisions a future where every talent is seen, heard, and given the space to thrive in Uganda’s evolving world of work.
