In a bold and theatrical display, Ronald Sewurembo, a boda boda rider from Nansana, made a striking return to the National Unity Platform (NUP) offices in Kavule on Friday, carrying a metallic blue suitcase (locally known as a sanduku) on his head—inside it, his original Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) certificate.
Sewurembo had previously been turned away for submitting handwritten academic documents. Determined to make a statement, he came back in grand fashion, placing a few sheets of his academic records inside the oversized suitcase.

Dressed in his reflective orange vest and trademark boda boda helmet, he maneuvered through a crowd of supporters and journalists to present the official documents needed for his bid to represent Nansana Municipality as a Member of Parliament under the NUP.
His eye-catching entrance quickly drew attention from onlookers and media at the party’s vetting location.
“I was told to bring my original certificate — and I’ve done just that, like a man ready to lead,” he said shortly after arriving.
Looking straight into the cameras, he declared, “I’m Sewurembo Ronald and I’m here to contest for MP in Nansana Municipality. I’ve brought my papers.”
Sewurembo joins a growing field of candidates looking to unseat the current MP, Hannington Wakayima Musoke Nsereko, who was elected in 2021.
His competitors include Zambali Bulasio Mukasa, a former anchor of Amassengejje on NBS TV, who has also shown interest in the Nansana race.
With his grassroots popularity and reputation for community-level mobilization, Sewurembo hopes to turn his everyday appeal into political success. He says he represents the “real people of Nansana.”
NUP officials confirmed receipt of his documents and stated that he will be vetted alongside other aspirants in the coming weeks.
