Rukungiri-The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, has called on Christians to prioritize investing in their children’s education, describing it as a powerful tool for transforming lives and communities.
Bishop Asiimwe made the remarks today while preaching at St. Paul’s Nyakagyeme Church of Uganda during the official installation ceremony of Rev. Venerable Ronald Natuhwera as the Archdeacon of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry.
In his sermon, the Bishop commended parents for their efforts in educating their children and encouraged them to remain committed, assuring them that such investment would yield lasting benefits. “Education is the great equalizer,” Bishop Asiimwe emphasized. “It opens doors, levels opportunities, and empowers future generations.”
He also praised Venerable Natuhwera for his visionary leadership, particularly in spearheading the construction of the Archdeaconry Church, which he said is a testament to his dedication to development. Bishop Asiimwe called on the Christians of Nyakagyeme to support their new Archdeacon, whom he described as a man of difference and a lover of progress.
The function was graced by the Minister of Security, Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, who served as the chief guest. In his address, Gen. Muhwezi expressed appreciation for the positive changes brought by Bishop Asiimwe in the North Kigezi Diocese.
He highlighted key achievements such as spiritual revival, strengthening of diocesan projects like the North Kigezi Diocese SACCO, and renovations of key schools including Muntuyera High School – Kitunga, Makoobore High School, and Kinyasano Girls’ High School.
“I thank the Bishop for not only preaching the Gospel but also working to improve the physical and educational infrastructure in our diocese,” said Gen. Muhwezi.
He pledged to personally support Venerable Natuhwera, promising to stand with him in his mission and welfare.In his remarks, Venerable Ronald Natuhwera thanked the congregation for turning up in large numbers to witness his installation. He extended heartfelt gratitude to Gen. Muhwezi for the support rendered toward organizing the function.
Venerable Natuhwera promised to work hand-in-hand with the Christians and leadership of North Kigezi Diocese to promote unity and foster development within Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry.
He pledged to prioritize the completion of the ongoing construction of the Archdeaconry Church, which he said would serve as a symbol of faith and growth for the entire community.
“I am committed to fostering togetherness and development. With God’s guidance and your support, we shall complete the church project and achieve even more,” Natuhwera declared.
The installation ceremony was marked by joyous celebrations, praise, and worship, reflecting the deep faith and unity of the Nyakagyeme Christian community.
