Biggie Events Out of Jail After Partial Settlement of Ugx 70m Loan

Date:

Renowned events promoter Biggie Events, real name Mariam Mutakubwa, is finally out of jail after spending over a week there, following cases linked to an unpaid Ugx 70m loan.

Biggie Events acquired a loan of over Ugx 70m from Tumusiime David Amooti, which she used to invest in one of her events.

However, the money didn’t return the proceeds as expected; hence, the payment plan with the money lender wasn’t fulfilled.

This prompted the money lender to seek legal action, and Biggie was dragged to court, before being remanded to Luzira prison to serve six months.

Following her imprisonment, several notable figures, including singers Spice Diana and Ameria Nambala, came to her rescue, pledging funds to help cover the promoter’s loan.

The money lender was subsequently engaged, reached an agreement, and a portion of the loan was paid before Biggie Events reclaimed her freedom yesterday evening.

Biggie expressed gratitude to fellow promoters, artists, family, and fans, who stood by her during this challenging situation.
