Beenie Gunter Details How Dexta Daps Joined His Latest Album

Date:

Dancehall artist Beenie Gunter has opened up on how Jamaican top star Dexta Daps came to feature on his recently released 13-track album.

Beenine Gunter collaborated with Dexta Daps on a track titled “Dreams Cya Die,” and during a TV interview, the singer revealed that it was the music and mutual respect that brought them together.

While many local artists seek out international acts to get into the studio with them, Beenie Gunter explained that Dexta, during one of his interviews in Uganda, heard his song and said he would love to meet the person behind it.

It was then that Talent Africa Group’s Ali Alibhai called him and suggested they meet at Sheraton’s Four Points to catch up and explore working together. Beenie Gunter revealed that none of them had begged the other for a collaboration, but called it a blessing to have achieved it.

“I don’t know how we should put it, but music linked us. He never knew it, and personally, I didn’t have it in plan because I wasn’t part of his show, or even set to perform there. It was just the music, just God’s blessings, because imagine someone coming here saying they want to meet the artist behind the song they listened to.

When you meet them, you get to work with them. I was working with Dexta basically because of the energy. We are one dancehall family, and we always try to push it forward for all of us,” he said.
