Kabale-Former Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament, Andrew Aja Baryayanga, has drawn massive support ahead of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries, rallying residents to vote for capable and development-oriented leaders in the polls slated for Thursday, July 17.
Baryayanga delivered his message during the climax of his campaign rallies at Kigezi High School Primary Playground in the Northern Division of Kabale Municipality, where thousands gathered to show their support.
The day-long rally kicked off from his home in Kirwa Cell, Kijuguta Ward, and proceeded through key areas of Kabale town, including the main stadium, central market, and Butobere Junction.
A vibrant procession, led by a brass band, escorted Baryayanga, bringing business and traffic in the town to a standstill for several hours. Supporters lined the streets, chanting his name and calling him by popular nicknames like *“Omwojo”* and *“Owakarire”*—reflecting widespread enthusiasm and loyalty.
In his address, Baryayanga urged voters to entrust him once again with the leadership of Kabale Municipality, highlighting his past achievements and promising even more under the NRM party framework.“I served you faithfully as an independent, and now I’m committed to using the NRM manifesto to bring more development to Kabale,” he said.
“All power belongs to the people. You deserve servant leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.”Baryayanga, known for his grassroots support in agriculture—especially through the distribution of maize seedlings and farming equipment—reiterated his commitment to continuing these efforts to uplift livelihoods in the region.
He also took time to emphasize his long-standing support for sports in the municipality. He pledged to revamp local sports initiatives and announced that the finals of the Aja Cup, which were recently halted due to political interference, will be held after Thursday’s election.“I have always supported sports, and I will continue to do so,” he assured the crowd.
As the NRM party primaries approach, Baryayanga promised to lobby for more government services and development projects to transform Kabale Municipality into a thriving urban center.
