AFRICAN YOUTH AMBASSADOR CONDEMS US ACTIONS IN VENEZUELA

Date:

The African Youth Ambassador, Luyimbaazi Issah Katungulu, has issued a strong condemnation of recent United States actions in Venezuela, describing them as a violation of national sovereignty and international law.

In a formal statement addressed to H.E. Fatima Yesenia Fernandes Juárez, the Venezuelan Ambassador to Uganda, Katungulu expressed deep concern over what he termed the invasion of Venezuela and the alleged kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. He described the actions as an example of state terrorism and a dangerous precedent in global affairs.

I extend my heartfelt concern to the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and strongly condemned the US invasion and the kidnapping of the legitimate president Nicolas Maduro and his wife. This action is a clear example of state terrorism and a violation of Venezuela’s national sovereignty, and reaffirmed Africa’s support for the Venezuelan people and their elected government.

Failure to act decisively against such violations is tantamount to inviting anarchy and normalising the use of force and military might as the main form of discourse in international politics. This would be a regression into a world preceding the United Nations, a world that gave us two brutal world wars and an international system prone to severe structural instability and lawlessness.

I express confidence that the people of Venezuela, by maintaining unity and national cohesion, would safeguard their independence and national interests and continue on the path of development and progress. – Luyimbaazi Issah Katungulu, African Youth Ambassador.

The African Youth Ambassador reaffirmed Africa’s solidarity with the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, stressing the importance of respecting the will of the people and the legitimacy of elected governments. He warned that failure by the international community to decisively address such violations risks normalising the use of military force as a primary tool of international discourse.
