A Pass Explains Why Serving His Local Fans Matters More Than International Recognition

Date:

Musician A Pass has revealed that he is not focused on being labelled as an international artist, citing his local fans as his first priority.

A Pass, real name Bagonza Alexander, during his live broadcast, revealed that while many artists were obsessed with hitting the international market, his goal was to serve his local fans.

A Pass has made a name for himself as one of the top dancehall artists and lyricists, and his music has topped various playlists. He emphasized that it wasn’t about having his music recognized across the globe, but he wanted to make music that resonated with his fans.

That is just your thinking that every artist has to go international, which is not the case. I will do my best for my fans, the ones I know. I know how people feel and they have been telling me that I would have been bigger than this and on top, but I do not want that.

A Pass, however, noted that if his music ever went global, he would be grateful, but it was currently not his goal at this point in his career. He acknowledged the fans who love his music from outside the local market, but he believes it is not a prerequisite for someone to be labelled as a star.

“If God decides and puts me there, I will go, but it is not the goal. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to have many people who know you abroad to be big. Even at this level, many people know you and enjoy your work, but you just don’t know it. I think the most important bit is satisfying your people,” he said.
